Profile Information

How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
Working with Transition Longmont -
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I'm very concerned about what is going to happen after Peak Oil and how we're going to survive. The Transition movement offers hope, and that something we need more of. Doom and gloom keeps people paralyzed.

I'm looking forward to creatively collaborating with others in learning new ways of living.
What background and skills do you bring to this community?
I'm a connector and bring people together. I coordinate and manage projects, publicity and marketing, copy writing, office administration skills, and graphic design. I am a creative problem solver and think outside of the box
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?

You could read this column. Or you could just go to James Howard Kunstler's blog at www.kunstler.com or read his nonfiction book, "The Long Emergency" and novel, "World Made by Hand."

Three Thoughts on Transitions - Speech by Naropa President, Thomas B. Coburn on Community Practice Day, October 2008

Three thoughts on transitions

Thomas B. Coburn

Practice Day, October 2008

1. No individual or organization has ever lived a seamless, transition-free life.

Some of the transitions or interruptions are predictable and happen on a

regular calendar (holidays, birthdays, etc.).

Many are not, but are disruptive or intrusive.

A common human response to these transitions is to weave ritual around them.

2. Research now shows that all organisms, including human beings, learn optimally… Continue

New Energy Economy Emerging in the United States - Lester Brown, Earth Policy Institute

http://www.earthpolicy.org/Updates/2008/Update77.htm

As fossil fuel prices rise, as oil insecurity deepens, and as concerns about climate change cast a shadow over the future of coal, a new energy economy is emerging in the United States. The old energy economy, fueled by oil, coal, and natural gas, is being replaced by one powered by wind, solar, and geothermal energy. The transition is moving at a pace and on a scale that we could not have imagined even a year ago.

Consider Texas. Lon… Continue

Hey Teresa, thanks for adding me as a friend. I am on the Boulder site, haven't utilized it much. I give me good talk/presentation at the AFSC )America Friends Service Committee) this Tuesday. Using exerpts from the "Future of Food" and Michael Pollen's "Food Miles". Let's do that coffee soon! Doug

Hey teresa, Thanks for the logo info- Michael sent it to me & it is beautiful!

I took lunch over to Jim today, he was happy with a salad, and some talk, still needs to rest in between things, but he looked and sounded as if he is gaining strength. He is very grateful and very appreciative for the gifts of bringing him food. He hasn't given much thought to work needed in the garden yet, but as that comes up maybe some of us can give him a hand?

Looks to me that you're forgetting to highlight the text you want to serve as the link.

E.g, XYZ -- highlight the three letters and then click on the Add Hyperlink icon -- paste in the url and say OK. \

Let me know how it goes.

Oh- sorry to hear about his mother-
Now I understand- will have to bide our time for his help then-
thanks much. I am looking forward to getting that logo so I can send out thank you's & letters to governing people in town who have been supportive. It is time now to do this to keep the ball rolling.

Am planning to come to your roundtable meeting on the 9th. Great work! And it was a real pleasure to have Strider, and Zia Parker come to some of our Lyons events recently, strider was armed with the Viz which are all given out by now. our cross-fertilizing our groups is wonderful, and oblique, not feeling necessary, but a willing mood establishing.
Cheers/ Coco
