Hi Margaret and everyone else. I wanted to find out when you all are going to learn canning so I can join in the fun. I'm in Boulder. Thanks.
Shoshana Nejman
How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
I attended the Earth Expo in Denver. I was inspired and moved by Albert Bates and Woody Tasch.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
The transition movement is such a relief because we are acknowledging that our system is completely broken. There's no point in trying to fix anything because the system is fundamentally corrupt. This acknowledgement produces a large outbreath for me. I don't need to keep trying to contribute to a system that doesn't work and whose leaders have total contempt for life on earth.
What background and skills do you bring to this community?
I'm a good organizer and I can hold the big picture.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
I don't know yet. I have to educate myself first.

Suggestions you have for improving our Registration questions. Getting to know you better.
I'd like to know about information meetings. I'd like to know how the leaders in Denver and Boulder have re-arranged their lives in order to move closer to sustainability. I need models, examples of how it's done.

Shoshana,
The canning class will take place on Sunday, Sept. 20th, from 5-9 pm at the Broomfield Crescent Grange kitchen. It's also a potluck. It's free (donations welcome). We'll have an expert on hand to give us tips and guide us through the hands-on process.
See the EVENTS calendar for more details about this event or just contact me with questions. Thanks!
Hi Shoshana. Hopefully we'll be setting up a canning get-together mid-September. I'm shooting for Sept 20th at the Broomfield Grange, but I'm waiting to hear if the place will be available that day. Stay tuned here!
No problem, Shoshana. Simply "join" the Westminster group and you'll automatically get alerts in your email whenever someone posts a comment or discussion on that group page.
I encourage you to browse around the various groups (home page --> groups) to see what people are doing along the Front Range. I'm in the Westminster/Arvada/Broomfield group and this summer we followed through with creating a community garden in the middle of Broomfield on otherwise unused land. We will be learning how to can together, and will be holding discussion groups on sustainability and voluntary simplicity soon. Check us out!
Big welcome, Shoshana. I really enjoyed talking with you at the Expo. ...I'm a good organizer and I can hold the big picture... -- perfect! You're exactly the kind of person this community will benefit from knowing.
A potluck!-good food and good talk!-sounds like a plan Margaret! Can't wait until you're back! My best to you up in Boulder, hoping you feel better each day!
Have you ever wondered if it could be done? Can you create a greenhouse that needs NO supplemental heating year round? – the answer is yes!! This greenhouse design, involving stored water as thermal mass and our bountiful Colorado sun, can be used w…
I can only speak to my own experience. For most of my life I took the lead from my father and his cohorts in developing my worldview. When he died (a personal catastrophe), I took a few years to examine every aspect of my life -- including my values…
Hi Paul,
Sorry for the delayed response. Life got way too busy in December. I'm out of town right now but will be back by January 1st. I'll call you to discuss what we did at the library and to see what we all can cultivate for 2010 in Colorado :)
