Hi David,
Sorry for the delay there, I've been a little busy! I suggest you try Community Roots in Boulder (Kipp Nash- check the website) and Abbondonza Farm(they also have a website). Both sell at the Farmer's Market in Boulder and I think you can pick up your share from Abbo. at the market as one option. I also am aware of another CSA, Father Earth Farm, offering shares- I think you have to pick up at the farm and they are between 75th and 95th of Arapahoe. Father Earth Farm (website also) Abbondonza and Cure Farm all have farm stands also. You can order on-line from Jay Hill Farm and they will pick to order for pickup the following day. They don't have a CSA but I use them to round out what we get if that's needed. Jay HIll also sells year round. I hope one of these, or any other you find will work well for you. If you haven't checked with Local Harvest yet, they are a website that you can use to find most of the local farms all over the country. Really small CSA's might not be listed though... Eat well!
Hi David
I am one of the "Initiators" for Louisville and I hope you were able to attend our meeting Saturday. And do u know Matt Johnsen and Andy Johnson (Andy is a Green architect)
my wife and 21 yr old son are in the very early stages of exploring the building of a state of art straw bail and passive solar home as a model - demonstration of what is possible - so naturally I am drawn to your passions around green building
my phone is 303 926 0503
Also just saw that you were interested in what we were up to. So far, it's just a group of some budding and seasoned Permaculturists who are collaborating on a still-unfolding series of projects to create more resiliency in our community. So far we've designed a chicken coop of almost all resourced and local (e.g. strawbale) materials, which we hope to build many of!
If you let me know what your email is I'll try to keep you apprised of what we're up to. We're hoping to do many of our projects as workshops, an idea we're still developing.
Any other questions just let me know! My email is aaron.guman@gmail.com
I saw your request to join the Resilience Design Guild. I wanted to let you know that we decided as a group that we're going to keep the group at its original membership for about six months to get our act together, figure out exactly what we're doing and how we're going to operate, ect. At that time we'll begin accepting more members.
Thank you for your interest!
Peace,
Aaron

Hi David,
Check out http://www.studentscholarshipsearch.com There are a few good documents regarding how to go about scholarship searches in a productive, methodical manner.
Findtuition.com and finaid.org are both pretty good, too. Everyone and their brother uses Fastweb.com. I found that one to be okay, but the others offer more value for the time spent.
Ah, I see the lost strand; I had asked you what time that meeting was. Yeah, it is too bad there is not a large movement of interest in this direction. I would have very little knowledge to back up any statements, had I gone to the meeting. The only recommendations I can suggest are based on the fact that I would like to see goats, chickens, greenhouses, coops, etc., in everyones yard, and would like the city and county laws to respect that.
I hear the county is quite up on allowing for these things, though the city is a bit more strict in its policies. This is anecdotal, though. I would be interested in talking more of this.

Hi David, I am drawing a blank on the commissioner meeting you spoke of. This was a count commissioner meeting I am assuming? I am also wondering if we have spoke of this before. My memory has yet to grasp some recognition. Though, the topic of commissioners standings on codes and building procedures, classifications and zoning's are of interest to me in a practical way; as they relate to the building of chicken coops, greenhouses, etc.
thoughts?

David,
Is there an update or synopsis of the Boulder Council meeting regarding land use that took place the middle of January? Did they reach any decisions, or can this group be influencial in any way to ensure the decisions they do reach are in harmony with Transition's values?
Hi David, nice to see people who are into green building here. It's an important skill to learn, as well as retrofitting. Welcome to Transition Boulder :)

Hi David,
Welcome to the site. Welcome to Transition Boulder. You Transition Boulder member #85! Check out the events calendar. We have some stuff come up after the New Year.
How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
Minimally. I would like to attend more events. I've gone to one meeting @ Naropa and want to attend more.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
Recent events bring me to these same conclusions that the Transition movement seem to share. I've been studying and doing green building as a builder/carpenter for 17 years. It seems that if we do things right there will is more than enough good food/clean air and water/and eco-friendly housing available to us all. Recent events that reveal the worst in human behavior shows me that we all have a vested interest in everybody having access to a job, a healthy community, housing, good food and water and a non-polluted environment. This, it seems to me, is the way to fight violence and hatred.
What background and skills do you bring to this community?
My initial college studies centered around social science and the involvement in issues of homelessness and it's relationship to crime, particularly in Boulder when there was a big uproar around the centering of the homeless shelter in N. Boulder. The outcry was basically fear-based. I then ran a daytime center outside of Boston for the long-term mentally ill and homeless. After that experience of working first-hand with this population, I sort of had to clear out my head/being/space and went on the road to heal/grieve and rediscover the connections with the earth spirit that I had grown away from. I lived alone(with my dogs) in the desert in my van. Then it became time to come back into the world in a meaningful way. Green building was and continues to be my interest. I am working on my science prerequisites to get into the master's program @ CU, Boulder in Building Systems.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
Knowledge, good questions and interest. I also enjoy a good ole fashioned dance party.
A potluck!-good food and good talk!-sounds like a plan Margaret! Can't wait until you're back! My best to you up in Boulder, hoping you feel better each day!
Have you ever wondered if it could be done? Can you create a greenhouse that needs NO supplemental heating year round? – the answer is yes!! This greenhouse design, involving stored water as thermal mass and our bountiful Colorado sun, can be used w…
I can only speak to my own experience. For most of my life I took the lead from my father and his cohorts in developing my worldview. When he died (a personal catastrophe), I took a few years to examine every aspect of my life -- including my values…
Hi Paul,
Sorry for the delayed response. Life got way too busy in December. I'm out of town right now but will be back by January 1st. I'll call you to discuss what we did at the library and to see what we all can cultivate for 2010 in Colorado :)
