Howdy doody!
I have had a couple of comments about the questions...that they require a lot of thoughtfulness (which is great), but that people who want to answer them thoroughly get a big bogged down and say that they didn't have the time to do the questions justice....I don't know how to handle that....maybe combinea couple of questions? (4 and 5?)....encourage people to do a quick answering, and then let them know they are free to come back and update? I dunno....have you had other feedback like this?

Hi Dana, not sure when exactly sometime around two years ago when oil was going up like crazy and I realized how dependent we were on it for everything from pharmaceuticals to food. I kind of had this realization that our current way of living was fundamentally flawed and out of balance with the rest of nature/the biosphere and that the basis of this could likely be traced to a spiritual disconnection, within ourselves and within society, built into the "fabric" of our culture. Through discussing this with other people I have been exposed to ideas such as "sustainability", permaculture and relocalizing.

Hi Dana - I definitely would be interested in helping with that. I plan on coming to the Nov. 24 Transition Denver meeting, so we can talk further about it then.

In the meantime, I'm working on a draft proposal to distribute for comment. Under State law, Denver is eligible to set up a "Clean Energy Finance District" which would let us loan money for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, and have the repayments occur on property tax bills. Aspen and Boulder have opted for bond issuance to finance their programs, but I'd prefer a revolving loan fund which could keep lending, rather than the one-shot deal that they have gone for. There is stimulus money available, too, and we could solicit donations for the revolving loan fund, as well.

I also just came from an INC meeting (InterNeighboorhood Cooperation), where I made my pitch. No one signed on to help immediately, but I think a good seed has been planted there.

Thanks for the support and feedback.

Thanks for the feedback. It's a bit crazy over here with the continuous onslaught of fascinating developments. Looks like you're doing great work over there - and boy is it needed! Just like over here.

Am looking forward to perusing what's going on in Denver and beyond.

All the best. Ben.
