How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
New to it
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
We have 5.6 kW of solar panels on our roof in SW Denver. In the 1970's, I testified before the US Congress and the President's Commission on Energy about the need to go to renewable energy sources.
What background and skills do you bring to this community?
I was an environmental activist and community organizer for years and now have time to return to that work - this time, on my own terms.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
I am retired from the City and County of Denver Public Works and Finance Offices and still have many contacts there. I'd like to help push the Denver sustainability office to become really effective. Imagine solar panels on top of all the parking lots in downtown Denver!

Transition Denver is pondering a good-sized summit in the spring that could possibly bring together a lot of environmental/social justice groups to create that "unified voice." Stay tuned....or Brad, if you would like to help us, let me know!
Hey Brad,
Interesting comments about trying to energize Greenprint for a Climate Action Plan. Interneighborhood Cooperation is the overseer group for the individual neighborhood associations. To my knowledge, they don't have a "green team". Those are few and far between, usually as committee's of neighborhood organizations, but some are independent. Try www.denvergreenteams.ning.com. You may get some help there. The green teams have a voice with Michael Barney at Greenprint, however, the ciy seems to have a set agenda and not much flexibility. As I see it, the biggest problem is organizing us environmentalists into a collective voice. There is always greater power in numbers. You might try organizing in your neighborhood, start your own green team. That would give you a direct connection to Michael.
Or talk with Transition Denver's steering committee. See if you can set up a sub group to write a Climate Action Plan draft to present to the mayor, city council and Greenprint. Goodluck.

Welcome Brad. Delighted to see you here. ...I am retired from the City and County of Denver Public Works and Finance Offices and still have many contacts there. I'd like to help push the Denver sustainability office to become really effective. Imagine solar panels on top of all the parking lots in downtown Denver!... -- How about adding DPW and Finance as a Group to our registry of local groups supporting Transition in Colorado. Gives visibility to such an important government office to all our members. Let me know when you have questions.

Well Hey Dana, seems that in addition to being a negative, uninformed racist my comments and blogs have been construed as attempts to berate the Transition movement. Can't quite understand how you've come to that conclusion and it certainly hasn't e…
