How are you currently involved in the Transition movement?
New member in Longmont.
In what ways do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I am interested in volunteering my time for the movement.
What background and skills do you bring to this community?
I have several years' experience in gardening vegetables. My husband and I grew a huge garden last summer and close to 70% of our food came from the garden. We even continue growing things in the winter by growing herbs and greens in a sunny window. In addition, I have an interest in green building and straw-bale construction and my husband and I attended a straw-bale workshop for one weekend.
I am always interested in ways of reducing waste, improving the local economy, expanding alternative energy, and minimizing dependence on oil. I am also interested in exploring new types of housing (compact housing and green housing) to reduce environmental impact. I am currently studying technology for building solar hot water heaters.
How can you help the growth/acceptance/vitality of the Transition movement?
I can help by volunteering my time. I have extensive computer experience and I am a professional software engineer, so I can contribute in a diverse number of ways. I have gardening experience, as I mentioned before, so I can contribute by talking about the benefits of growing a garden. I also have research experience and I am interested in researching technologies to reduce waste and energy consumption.
Suggestions you have for improving our Registration questions. Getting to know you better.

During my lunch today from 2 - 3 I drove over to your place and "snooped" around a bit. I knocked at the front door, but only dogs said hi. I walked around staying outside the backyard gate. Eventually, I saw the flight path of the bees and got to see your hive. It looks really cool. Kind of like a house from where I was standing on the drive way. Nice. I love what you did with the cukes growing up-side-down. That's cool!
Anyway, if one of your neighbors says "some guy with a pony tale was walking around your place" ... well, that was me.
Hugs ... Don
A potluck!-good food and good talk!-sounds like a plan Margaret! Can't wait until you're back! My best to you up in Boulder, hoping you feel better each day!

I can only speak to my own experience. For most of my life I took the lead from my father and his cohorts in developing my worldview. When he died (a personal catastrophe), I took a few years to examine every aspect of my life -- including my values…
Hi Paul,
Sorry for the delayed response. Life got way too busy in December. I'm out of town right now but will be back by January 1st. I'll call you to discuss what we did at the library and to see what we all can cultivate for 2010 in Colorado :)
