Autumn's Invitation

From the Wild Green Yonder

Fall has never been my favorite season. Going back to school, shivering in the first snowfall, darker and darker evenings, watching the trees become stripped and gangly… it all seemed so depressing. But as I’ve slowly learned to listen to nature’s patterns, I’m starting to see autumn as a time of precarious abundance, a time when we can live off summer’s b… Continue

The Atriplex Project: A Permaculture Database for the Front Range

From the Wild Green Yonder

One of permaculture's hallmarks is polyculture: the mixed cultivation of a wide variety of bioregionally-appropriate species. In a process called "guild building", permaculture designers select plants that will mutually enhance each others' growth while providing their human stewards with a yield. In the classic Native American polyculture of maize, beans, and squash, for in… Continue

Some reading material for the rest of your body

In the last week, I've come across a couple articles in my daily overdose of newsfeeds that I found uncommonly, well, human. Rather than inundate me with grim statistics or get me all riled up with innovative solutions, both of these essays struck the non-cerebral parts of me in a refreshingly poignant sort of way.

I realized that, just like the snow that's slowly melting outside my window, this kind of writing has b… Continue

Adam,
Cool connection! You probably study with Andy Millison at Ecosa. I was very involved in the development of the Eco-Hood in Prescott. Andy is a good friend of mine. I took my first PDC with him and then apprenticed teaching with him. Are you taking a Teacher Training at Finger Lakes Permaculture Institute? I worked with Steve and Karryn as well when I lived in Ithaca. Just a thought!
Keep cool,
Jason

Thanks for offering to talk about the competition. I've forwarded your info to Lea, who is currently working on organizing everything. I hope you don't mind. I look forward to talking with you too.

Hmm...at this point, I just don't know.

I feel like my mind keeps going in circles with different streams of beliefs! I definitely think oil prices will keep becoming more 'extreme' in their volatility but as I am writing my thesis on this, I am just trying to take everything in, and wait on the analysis. So many ideas, perspectives, etc., this is quite the time to be witnessing. But thanks for putting that article up--it's refreshing to see such a radically new perspective.

Sorry it only took me a month to reply!

Hiya adam,

Wanted to ask you what you thought of that article you posted on why oil and gas prices are so low. Do you really believe that? Porque? I'm so curious because I just can't get my mind to understand/accept that argument, but i generally agree with oildrum everything, so....

Greetings Bredren,

I had the pleasure of meeting Andrew Foust this past summer at Yestermorrow in Vermont. When I saw you were profile, I thought of him as a good contact...then I saw that you had taken a class with him. Tis a small, green world after all. I look forward to connecting with you and finding more out about Ecosa and tapping your internet savvy. Keep me posted on your adventures and the move to Denver and let me know if I can be of any service in your pursuits. Warm regards,

Ben

I ditto my good friend Dana's comment! I work for Denver City Councilwoman Judy Montero and I want to take advantage of what ever resources/actions the city can offer (we have a great new Greenprint program) -- yet, there are just so many possibilities! And, I'm a new to the issue of permaculture so if you have suggestions (pilot programs, speakers, etc.), we'd LOVE to hear them.
Best,
Teresa

Hi Adam and welcome! You've got just the right background to be really helpful to the rest of the country. I'd like to suggest that you help document Transition things you see happening in Brooklyn. We're using Transition New York to gather and organize people in Brooklyn. You'll find full directions on our startup page.
