Introductoin to Transition Louisville

Please join us on our NEW Transition Louisville web site. This group on Transition Colorado will continue to function, since it has much useful information. However, current activities will be most readily available on our new site. Check out our new Directory -- showing who's responsible for what.

Unleashing our Collective Expertise and Passion -
Louisville is rated as one of the top five places to live in the nation. We have some of the best
local services and businesses and our residents are skilled, creative and highly
motivated. Transition Louisville brings community members together to make our
town an even better place to live now and into the future by fostering greater use of
local resources and unleashing our collective expertise to live more sustainable lives.

Reducing Impact on Planet -
Many of us in the community are striving to reduce our impact on the planet and ensure our children and future generations enjoy the same quality of life that we have today. Transition Louisville offers a place for residents to come together to explore more mindful ways of conserving our precious resources and pass that ethic on to our children and share these new skills with our community.

Re-skilling Classes and Workshops -
Many of the skills that our grandparents took for granted have sadly been lost to mechanization and industrialization. As we work toward a more sustainable future, this presents an
exciting opportunity to revive traditional life skills. Transition Louisville draws on the
expertise and passions of its members to foster a re-skilling of our community by
offering classes, workshops and curricula in a variety of areas such as neighborhood
farming, food preservation, composting and home energy efficiency.

We Welcome Your Participation
By working together, there’s no limit to the ways we can enhance our great community and help each other live more sustainable lives. Transition Louisville is open to any resident who wants to learn, share and connect with other members of the community to help Louisville continue
to prosper and thrive – no matter what the future holds.

Hello Transition Louisville
Congrats as well on your recognition as an official Transition site.
I would like to make your group aware of a discussion group about The Great Turning by David Korten that I will host in my home in Lafayette, from April 9-May 7; I have set up a group for it here. This would qualify as an awareness raising function. Hope to see some of you there!

Congrats to Transition Louisville on becoming an official Transition site! Kudos to those who have worked hard to bring us all together and give us the information we need to make smart choices. You're making a wonderful contribution to the future of our fine city and it's inhabitants.

I can only speak to my own experience. For most of my life I took the lead from my father and his cohorts in developing my worldview. When he died (a personal catastrophe), I took a few years to examine every aspect of my life -- including my values…

Hi Paul, Sorry for the delayed response. Life got way too busy in December. I'm out of town right now but will be back by January 1st. I'll call you to discuss what we did at the library and to see what we all can cultivate for 2010 in Colorado :)
