What is this mailing list?

Let's face it, sometimes you just want to know what's happening across ALL local initiatives in Colorado -- even if you don't live in Colorado.

We've just implemented a broadcast email list for Transition Colorado. By subscribing to this list you are enabling members on the list to mail to you and all other members on the list. You will receive announcements of events and new developments from members across all localities in Colorado

  • Join this group to sign up.
  • Step 1. Start a Discussion below and paste in your message if you wish to save a copy of the message you are about to send. This step is optional if you're just getting out a quick message to the group and don't care to retain a copy. Note. Adding Comments to the Comment Wall does just that -- no mail goes to anybody.
  • Step 2. Send Message to Group. Paste your copy of your message into the outgoing mail to MAIL TO ALL MEMBERS. Everybody in this group receives a copy of your message.
  • Remove yourself at any time -- handy for vacations.
  • Reinstate yourself at any time -- pick up where you left off.

I am making one last marketing push to get folks to come and see the concert BCAH is hosting tomorrow night. The Fort Bend Boys Choir will be our guests at the Broomfield Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. They have been touring Colorado for a week to rave reviews. I have copied one review below. These boys are not only adorable, but quite talented. We’d like for them to have a good audience. Please consider coming. If you can’t afford the ticket price, just pay what you can! Mostly, we would simply like to celebrate these fine young people. Thanks so much!! If you have children- this is a great, inexpensive way to have a night out. Kids LOVE watching other kids perform. The show will be just a little over an hour.

Attached is a press release with details and a photo. They are SOOO cute!!

Last night at the Boulder Contra Dance I was able to get on-stage and announce:

"If you are interested in knowing how the next twenty years will be completely different from the past twenty years you have a chance to hear Chris Martenson. He's coming to Denver to speak the weekend of July 17th. If you have any questions, you can ask me about it."

This was announced to an audience of about 200 dancers.

Anyway, it occurred to me later that we only have about a month left. We should be advertising actively now. What's happening in that domain?

Thanks ... Don

One of my very favorite Blogs is Our World 2.0 the quote and video below are from that site and an article "Count Down to the Tipping Point?"

The reality is that the negative effects of climate change — including hotter temperatures, melting ice, increased hunger and water shortages — are inevitable and can no longer be avoided. This is because a lag of around 40 or 50 years exists between the time emissions are released and the resultant temperature rise.

This thought-provoking cartoon presentation, “Wake up, Freak Out – Then Get a Grip” illustrates what this means in practice.

In the end the message is positive, because we can still make a difference.

Hi All,
A note to all of those interested in playing a role in changing Land code use rules in Boulder; specifically around the ability to do more gardening and have animals (chickens, goats, etc.) in the city of Boulder. Meeting is w/ the Bldr Cnty Commisioners @ the Commisioners hearing room, 3rd floor in the old courthouse(1325 Pearl) on Jan 15th. David Bartos

How about if we talk about our garden projects at the December 13th meeting? Spring is coming. What else do we want to discuss? We can break into small groups or not, whichever works best with the issues that come up.

Back in 1985 Paul Mankewicz of the Gaia Institute in NYC was prototyping a way to grow enough food on city rooftops to feed 80% of the people.

To think that pulling people together to put in Victory Gardens worked so well. With Permaculture edges, 3-D, Spiral, keyholes, keyline and other models for increasing yield in small spaces, think of the successes that re-localization in Transition towns would have with it!

Between individual household and town-wide producing of food and value added products I can envision a resilience that will be very empowering.

Teresa, will the Pollan interview be put up here on our site?
