About This Website...

TRANSITION COLORADO is an informal networking site for those interested in exploring and/or implementing the Transition model in Colorado communities. This site is being created through grassroots participation, and is continually evolving. It is a spontaneously arising effort to connect interested "transitioners" with each other and to encourage and support the development of local Transition Initiatives.

To find out more about the Transition movement in the US., or to arrange for a Transition speaker or training in your area, please see www.TransitionUS.org. To contact the Transition Network U.S., click here. If you are interested in starting a Transition Initiative in your Colorado community, please contact Michael Brownlee. To learn more about the Transition Movement worldwide, please see www.TransitionTowns.org and www.TransitionNetwork.org.

ABOUT TRANSITION

The Transition approach empowers communities to squarely face the challenges of peak oil and climate change, and to unleash the collective genius of their own people to find the answers to this momentous question:

For all those aspects of life that this community needs in order to sustain itself and thrive, how are we going to:
  • drastically reduce carbon emissions (in response to climate change);
  • significantly rebuild resilience (in response to peak oil);
  • and greatly strengthen our local economy (in response to economic instability)?
The Transition Movement emerged in the UK from of the work of Rob Hopkins (see his blog at www.TransitionCulture.org), and is spreading virally to many nations. See the current list of official Transition Initiatives here, and "mullers" here (communities in communication with the Transition Network considering the possibility of kicking off their own Transition Initiative).

DISCLAIMERS

This is not an official website of the international Transition Network or the Transition Network U.S. Opinions expressed here are those of individual participants. Participation in this networking site is no substitute for active engagement in Transition in your community.
